Dog Prevents Cat Fight Because That’s What Friends Are For

Time and time again dogs are proving their level of awareness and empathy in everyday situations. They lick the salty tears off our faces whenever we are down in the dumps, they come to our defense, and now they’re proving themselves as the best bud out on the town.

You have one of those friends, right?

You’re out and about and you or one of your close friends gets into it with someone else. There’s another friend in the group who is the peacemaker and tries to prevent or de escalate the situation. We’re all familiar with this story, but what you may not be familiar with is what follows…

The Daily Dot explains this sight to see best:

Even our canine friends know that sometimes the best option is to just walk away, as evidenced by this video that surfaced on Twitter this week of a good dog that didn’t let a fight break out between his cat friend and another cat. Animals: they’re just like us!

When cats get into it with each other, there’s a lot of hissing and growling. Arched backs reaching towards the sky, ready to react on the next offensive move from the enemy. Two cats were about to duke it out in a lot when a dog - friend or spectator - came to the rescue.

The dog runs up to the cat closest to them and grabs the cat by the leash to usher them away.

That’s gold footage right there.

Hold me back, dog.

Say no more, feline fam.

Just take a look! Don’t you wish you had this sweet doggo there for when you need backup? Not just Man’s Best Friend, but at times… Cat’s Best Friend apparently!

Yes. My sons cat would bully mine. When my dog heard mine cry or screach he would start yelping like he was hurt, go running in and run my sons cat away, then check to make sure mine were ok. My dog is an American Staffordshire Terrier.

My sons cat bullied mine, whenever my dog heard one of my cats scream he would start yelping and run to the rescue chasing off the other cat, then check that mine were okay before going back about his business. He is such a good big brother. He is an American Staffordshire Terrier which is one of the Pit breeds. To the true nature of his breed, he is a terrific nanny dog.
